Howdy Ho from the freezing cold!
Hello All!
Well, here I am procrastinating the inevitable sojourn out into the tundra that is my front walkway...it is so cold. It is winter, though. And I always try to remind myself of how good it feels to step outside into the first warm rays of the spring sun after a long and cold winter. Somehow, that makes this all worth it to me! (well, that and hot chocolate with whipped cream:))

Anyhoo, I must say that it feel strange to have no shows this week...I miss you guys and gals! This last weekend of shows was so much fun - even with the snowstorms in our way. The snow almost made the shows feel more special. You know, like we'd all worked really hard to get there so we'd better have as much fun as possible! Not to mention the fact that this weekend was filled with so many familiar faces - the lovely miss Charlotte and familiy from Canton, my Indiana girls - just as loovely as ever, and of course, Trish, Chrissy, Maurah, Zoe and all the boys! What a fun car ride THAT must have been. Oh, by the way, Trish, your Elivis glasses came in handy sooner than you might have thought - I used them to block out the sun as I slept on the plane home on Monday! Shaun made fun of me, but I thought it was a clever idea.

AND along with seeing the true blues, it was really great to meet all the new folks as well! I just loved meeting people who had never seen the show or who have been watching for years, but had never seen us live. What was cool, too, was that a lot of the kids were staying in our hotel in Indiana, so we kept having run-ins with people at the pool, or, my personal favorite, me in pajamas getting tea at Starbucks! It was such a great weekend!

The other thing that I wanted to share with you all is that I can feel already the popularity of the show growing - and I wanted to let you know, because I think in a big way this growth is due to your efforts and your support. It seems that every time I step onto the train to head home or even go into office buildings in the city that someone says, "hey, are you Karla?"

Now, besides being a very cool and surreal thing to have happen, it really warms my heart. The thing is that I know I believe in what this show stands for - education, creativity, physicality and fun. But, when I see that mirrored back to me in the faces and comments of all of you and all these new people I meet, it let's me know that we're doing our job. When we get to meet special kids like the ones in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, the stunningly chivalrous Alexander, little Hannah (sister to Abigail) and so many more, it let's me know that we're doing our job. When we get to go to places like Fort Hood and to meet a soldier in Green Bay who, the night before going off to war, takes his child to see Hi-5, I know that we're doing our job. And every time any of you gets up to sing with us, remembers our birthdays, sends me pictures of kitties or butterfly pony tail holders, I know that we're doing our job. So, I know that we're constantly saying thank you, but really, thank you for letting us build forts with you and hide under tables and sing and dance, and for listening to me babble on:) - it's been such a blast. See you next week in LA!

love and giggles,
Karla

P.S. I'm going to try and upload a picture that my friend just sent of Kimee and me getting ready for a show in Hartford - I thought you might like to see it...have great weekends!

Aloha all!!
Well, I'm home in San Francisco and I'm packing all my stuff up. Well kind of. I'm packing a bag to go to LA/Vegas and I'm also trying to seperate things that I want to bring to Australia(nothing's set yet, but the latest I've heard is that we're still going out there in February to film more episodes..keep your fingers crossed), and I'm also trying to pack up as many things as I can to put in my storage space in L.A. so that my move will be easier when I get back from Down Under....whew!!! It's a lot, and I'm a little done with it for right now:) So I'm taking a break...and I thought I would say Hello...so Hey!!

It's really cool to be able to relax a bit right now before we head down to L.A. We made it!!
Hey everyone!!
Well, we made it through the storm. And just in time to do both shows here in Green Bay baby!! Yay. I'm glad because Jenn's family came to visit us again here. She was really excited and it was so cool to have them in the audience again. I love when our friends and family come out to dance with us:) The shows were great and I want to just thank everyone for being patient with us. We had to delay the shows a bit because we had just driven into Wisconsin from Columbus that morning. Our crew worked really hard to get things going. They're great guys! And hardworking too...I'd like to take this time right now to send a huge MAHALO to them. Without them, this tour wouldn't be possible...THEY ROCK!!
We're headed off to Merriville shortly, and I can't believe this leg of the tour is already coming to an end. It's been great seeing you all and I hope to see you again soon. For those of you we missed, we will try super hard to make it to ya! We love each and everyone of you and it is really important that we dance with all of y'all in person...can't wait!
Alrighty, well...I should shut down my computer now. We're driving to Indiana tonight...looking forward to see y'all there too!! Yay! Have a good night everyone..and for those of you out here...stay warm and safe!!

Love love!
Kimee
ps...I would like to send out a special hello to a young lady named Megan and her family: Thank you so much for coming out to see the show tonight in Green Bay. It was great meeting you and I hope to see you again....we love you Abigail.

Hey You guys,
I just wanted to thank you all for such generous and warm birthday wishes. I had an amazing birthday surrounded by some really great friends! Hi-5 had some time off in Chicago and in some great twists of fate I was able to reunite with some old wonderful friends. In a period of 24 hours I saw a friend from college play a gig at a jazz club, had dinner with my best friend from high school, and met up with my best buddy from college afterwards. I was in friend heaven. Feeling surrounded by such support and friendly wishes from you guys and the folks in Chicago was the best present I could have asked for. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
We're in Columbus right now getting ready for a whirlwind of a weekend. Our bus froze in the sub-zero weather in Chicago, but luckily it is feeling better and ready to carry us around Ohio, Wisconcin. Tomorrow we have a couple of TV interviews before doing the show tomorrow evening. Afterwards, we all jump on the bus and drive through the night (pray for good weather) to Green Bay. We get to do two shows there for our cheese head fans and what I'm sure will be a large group of Jenn's family and friends. We jump on the bus again and head south to Merrilville for one last show before flying home for a week. It's so exciting to be running around so much. I love waking up and not knowing which city I'm in. It makes for a thrilling existence!
I hope you all are well and wanted to thank you again for the kindness and love in your birthday wishes. I really appreciate it!

SCRABBLE(I know it doesn't make sense, but if you read this entry you'll understand....LOVE YOU GUYS!!)
Aloha from Columbus!!
Hey everyone! I'm in my hotel room in Columbus right now and I wanted to say Aloha to you all!! Wow...it is COLD!! We left Chicago this morning and boy oh boy...I totally forgot what winter was like here!! Anyhoo, we actually flew this morning because...are you ready for this...OUR BUS FROZE!!! How crazy is that? I don't know what exactly happened, but basically it was frozen and broken...so it wasn't at all safe to ride. We were supposed to leave Chicago on Sunday, but had to extend our trip to this morning because of our broken down bus:) I didn't mind though..I love Chicago! Thanks again to all that came to see the show there and everywhere!! You guys are awesome!!
Okay, hmmmm..what's new? Well for me, nothing really. Still loving the show and every city has been absolutely amazing!! It's gone by sooo fast!! You guys really have been too AWESOME!! I'm excited to rest up for a week and then head out to California to groove with all you fun folks on the West Side!! YAY!! Oh and by the way..MY PARENTS ARE FLYING IN FROM HAWAII TO SEE THE SHOW!! How cool is that? They were planning a trip to Vegas(of course...people from Hawaii LOVE Vegas) and we realized that it would be so super easy to just stop in L.A(thank you Southweset Airlines) After our shows in California, me and my parents are flying to Vegas to meet my Grandma and one of my uncles to have a little family vacation!! So...YAY!! Mommy and Daddy Balmilero will be dancing with all of you at the Kodak and in Long Beach!! I'm so excited for them to be here. It's always nice for them to visit and they've never seen a live performance of the show. Hopefully the next time they see it....it will be in Hawaii...keep your fingers crossed!
Okey Dokey, well I guess that's it for now!! I'm getting ready to order some room service and countdown to the premiere of AMERICAN IDOL!! I'm such a dork I know!! Hey, you gotta love it:) Oh...and speaking of me being a dork...my new best friend on tour? An electronic Scrabble game! I can't get enough of it...the cast teases me about it(in good fun of course) but I am determined to be good at that game. For anyone else that loves playing Scrabble...I highly reccommend it. It was on sale at Kay-Bee for only $5.00!! I had to get it;)
Alrighty, I love you guys and I'll talk to you soon!!

Love love Always,
Kimee BEeeee

Fun Times on the Road...
I'm so happy to have a moment to check in with you all. I'm actually back in New York for a few days to see my kitties before we scoot off to Columbus. The shows - and those of you who have been there I think will agree - have been wonderful!! I'm so impressed by the dancing of ALL of you (moms and dad included). It's also super fun to be on a real stage with lights and sound and a set. Our crew is awesome and they have been working so hard. Sometimes they only get to sleep a few hours before having to roll out of bed in the wee hours of the morning to go set things up and make us look good. I guess in some ways it's part of the job description on a gig like this, but I still really appreciate all of their hard work - they're great guys!

Thanks to everyone who was so sweet to my mommy at the Baltimore show and to those of you who missed her at the Hartford and Boston performances! She's the best.

Also, I don't have all of my presents and artwork in front of me, so the specific thank yous will have to come a bit later. But, just generally, thanks to everyone who's given me gifts to take home with me. The pictures (both drawn and photgraphed), the flowers (which light up any drab hotel room), the care packages (my throat especially appreciated the tea last week when I was sick), the photo album (truly amazing! My friends who hound me for having no camera with me will appreciate this one), and all the fan mail, thank you notes, hugs, smiles, dance moves and just general support and positive energy at every show.

So, four more shows this weekend and then LA (how exciting! Except the Jets won't be in the Super Bowl which is a bummer, but I guess you can't win 'em all). I'll be in touch soon and I'll see some you even sooner! Take care, stay warm, keep singing!

Much love,
Karla

Hey Guys!
I must first say that it's been so great to see so many familiar faces again these past few weeks. The five of us have been having so much fun traveling around again and sharing the show with so many people. Looking out in the audience of over 2000 people in D.C. was a really great feeling. At the top of the show when we run downstage towards the audience I don't think I could not smile even if I wanted to. The enthusiasm and excitement coming at us from so many wonderful fans is hard to describe. I'm also thrilled the we're going to get the chance to head out to the West coast before we wrap things up. There are plenty of people we need to catch up with over on that side of the country.
One of the coolest things we've seen since being on the road is how much some of the fans have grown since seeing them this past Spring. I guess all you parents are well aware of how fast kids grow, but it's really been obvious to me recently.
We're in Raleigh right now and have had a couple days off except for some publicity here and there. That's a good thing because I for one have been a bit under the weather since Sunday and needed the time to recouperate. Doing a show when the wicked hands of the flu are closing in is a very challenging job and one that I hope I don't have to do ever again. Sunday morning I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a Mac truck. At 7am I had no idea how I was going to get through that afternoon's show. I was feverish, achey, and just plain sick. I was praying for a miracle and luckily that's just what I got, though it came in the way of a couple of doses of Tylenol Flu. After taking my medicine and napping on our bus I arrived at sound check with a body that wasn't arguing too much. Thankfully the show went very well and I didn't collapse during any of the numbers. Unfortunately, I still wasn't 100% and had to leave before the meet and great. I got packed up and headed outside to look for a taxi to take me to the hotel. Of course, Sunday evening is not a busy time for cabs so I was left sick and stranded. Suddenly, a white light appeared and out of it stepped three of the most wonderful people. They were the angels of transportation. I stepped into their chariot and they whisked me off towards my hotel. We had a spirited ride through the city as we traded stories and laughs. As they dropped me off and wished me luck, I realized how lucky I was to be surrounded by such wonderful people. So, let me take this chance to thank those amazing angels that appeared Sunday evening in D.C., you saved me that night.
For those of you that are still planning on catching one of our shows, I can't wait to meet all of you and know that you'll enjoy our show. We're having a wonderful time with it.

Subject:  hi guys

Hello to our wonderful Hi-5 fans! How is everybody? I just posted
to my "groups" site (which I am very grateful for btw), but I wanted
to say a quick hi to you guys, too.

It was so cool to see you guys in the audience for our first 4 shows
of "Move Your Body." I can't tell you how excited we are to rock
out with you guys in a theater. It is truly an amazing experience
that we've come this far. Thank you for your constant support and
encouragement, and special gifts. It brings a smile to our faces.

At the moment, we're in Boston getting ready for our show tomorrow
at the Wang Center. I'm a little sick, so i'm heading to bed early
(have to make sure I can sing tomorrow). Try and sing a long to
help me out if you're going to be there, o.k.? I'm positive that
we're going to have a blast! Talk to you guys soon.

love, Shaun

Hello Hello Hello! (from Jenn)
Hey everybody,

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to write again. I began the
tour with a terrible sinus infection/cold thing that was so hard to
beat. But I am starting to feel more like myself so that is good!
You guys have been so incredible at these shows! I mean, wow! I am
just blown away by how many of you we have had the great pleasure to
see again!!! Every single show seems to get bigger and bigger--today
the rumor was that we had about 3000 people at the MCI center here in
DC. (I never got a final number) That is just amazing! I can't tell
you the rush we get when we turn around at the beginning of the show
and see all of you waving your Hi-5 hands/signs and wearing those cute
little light-up antenna headbands! We can see you, even way in the
back, dancing around with those on your heads! I want a pair:)
Anyway, we head out back to North Carolina tomorrow and have a
couple of days to rest and maybe go see a movie or two. There are so
many I want to see right now! Hopefully there will be a theater close
to our hotel. I think we also may go bowling and I am sure if there
is a mall close by, Kimee will find it and round up us girls to do a
little damage:) I can't wait to see all of you who are coming to the
next batch of shows. I am extremely excited about Chicago and Green
Bay just because they are so close to my hometown (Madison, WI). It's
too bad we don't have more time to spend there. Speaking of Green
Bay--Shaun, Kimee, Karla and I (and some of Shaun's friends) went to
ESPN zone after the show today to catch the 2nd half of the Packer
game this afternoon. Oh, what a sad game! I guess I will be a lot
calmer for our next couple of Sunday shows now that my precious green
and gold are out of the running. :( (Especially on Superbowl
Sunday--when I saw we had a show, I didn't quite know what to
do--nobody's supposed to work on Superbowl Sunday!!!) Luckily we will
finish by kickoff:)
I am just babbling now. But really and truly thank you for all of
the smiles, hugs, kisses, pieces of art, flowers, candy, tea,
starbucks coffee cards, and most of all your excitement and energy.
You guys fuel us! You are the best fans anyone could ever ask for! I
stand back sometimes and am just in awe of your support!
We will see all of you soon! Take care and stay healthy!!!! Talk
to you guys soon! Oh, and Tom sends his love (I know some of you have
been asking about him--you will see him in Columbus and Green Bay)

Love,

Jenn:)

ps HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEB!!! Can't wait to see you in LA!

Subject:  I haven't disappeared...

Hey everyone,

It has been way too long since I have written to you guys. I
haven't forgotten you. We have been so busy and I didn't take my
laptop along with me to Australia, NYC, or Toronto. No excuses, I
know. I will be better!

I have so much to tell you, let's start from the beginning.
Australia was beautiful this past trip. We didn't spend much time
relaxing but we had a great time regardless. We were rehearsing our
new stage show which we are so excited about. It is going to be great
going out on tour again and seeing all of you! I can't wait. This
show is going to be so cool. We have loved being on a real stage
again--with lights and sets and everything. It was so amazing doing
our dress rehearsals in Sydney with kids who love the Australian cast,
but had so much fun with us. They were so sweet and so supportive!!
And I'm sure you guys will be even louder and more excited---there's
nothing like doing a show for your own fans!

Let's see what's next, oh yes, the parade!!!! How incredible was
that!?!?!?! We all kept looking at eachother and saying, "Is this
really happening right now?" I can't express to you how excited we
all were to be there! I had chills the entire way! And the weather
was so nice--it couldn't have turned out better.

Then we went to Toronto and did a show for the Walmart Kids Holiday
Party at the Walmart headquarters there. Every time we go to Canada
we are soooooo welcomed! I can't tell you how many times we were
stopped in the airport, at dinner, at the hotel, back at the airport!
It seems like everyone is a Hi-5 fan there. Believe me, we are
pushing to get up there for this tour. I'm actually surprised that
Toronto wasn't the first city on the list. Keep calling those venues,
because they just don't realize what amazing fans you all are!!!

And now, I am back in sunny LA enjoying this amazing weather and
trying to sleep as much as I can before the rock schedule begins! Oh,
I am also singing with Tom a couple of nights every week at this place
called "Cafe Maurice" on Melrose and Martel in West Hollywood. That
has been a blast! It's just this little Italian Restaurant/Bar that
has live music every night. Tom has been playing there for a while
and I sing with him and his friend Mike sometimes. We do a lot of
Tom's music, Mike's music and some covers. If any of you are bored
and looking for something to do, you should come down, have dinner and
listen to some music! It's a great time. This week we'll be there
tonight (Sat), Sun, Wed, Thurs (which happens to be Tom's 25th
Birthday!!), and next Sat and Sun. We always start around 7:30 or 8
and play until about 11 (or as long as people are listening). If you
like the stuff on Tom's CD, you would love this!

Anyway, I hope the holiday season is treating you all well wherever
you may be! And if I don't see you down here in LA, hopefully I'll
see you this winter on tour!!! Thanks for everything! Love you guys!!

Hugs and Kisses,

Jenn:)

Subject:  Toronto...

Hey again,

I just wanted to clarify that when we were in Toronto last, it was
for a private WalMart Holiday party---not part of the tour that we
will be starting at the end of December. So don't worry, you didn't
miss us. We're still keeping our fingers crossed about coming to Toronto.
Oh also, this weekend, the Saturday show has been cancelled because
of a birthday bash for Tom. Sorry if any of you were planning on
coming. We will still be there on Sunday night (and tonight and
Thursday). And when I know next week's schedule, I will let you know!

Happy Holidays!

Love,

Jenn:)
