Hi-5 Journal

February 08, 2006

Hey Guys,
I'm looking at the last entry any of us have made and I feel bad. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very good at keeping my part of the journal up to date. So, I'm trying to make it up tonight.

As you all know Hi-5 land has been quiet and it will be until the CBS show in March and then will pick up in April. During this time I know that the five of us have been keeping ourselves busy with our own lives. It's always fun to have the time to get to the things that we always seem too busy for. I've been playing my guitar and trying to learn more and more songs. I admit though that I could be doing a better job. An experienced guitar player could probably restring a guitar in a fraction of the time it took me the other night. But, it's done and my guitar sounds nice. I'm working on Some Kind of Wonderful, and a couple of the older Hi-5 songs. Jenn's fiance Tom has inspired me. I've been hanging out at my house on the weekends getting little projects done and amazed that with each completed project, two more pop up. This week I'm tackling a tiling project that ended up being much more than I anticipated. Six hours and a giant mess later I only have eight of them on the wall. This is one of the times I wonder if I should've hired somebody to do it. Oh well, I'll give my clean-up skills a workout as well with this project.

Last week I traveled to Japan to hang out with my niece, Zoe. She's just over two years old and we had a blast! She's been in Japan since she was 9 months old so the only way she really knows me is by watching the Hi-5 DVD's. The 24 hour trip was so worth it when I showed up and she pointed at me saying "Curtis. . . . . .Curtis. . . .Curtis" It just melted my heart. The week was great as I explored southern Japan and played with Zoe. Who knew 2 year olds were so active? Other than hanging out with her, my hiking experiences were the coolest! I hiked some misty Japanese mountains and was greated with some monkeys at the top. I've always loved them, but have never been so close. I snapped some fun pictures and had a wonderful time. If you guys ever venture that way you're in for a treat. Japan is such an amazing place. The coolest part is that it's so different from the States or Canada. When I've been to Europe I was surprised at how easy it was to get around. Even if I didn't speak the language, I at least understood the way things worked. In Japan that was no longer true. It was so different and so interesting to walk around and feel so amazed at all the differences.

It took me a good week to get over the jet lag, but I have no regrets. I'm heading down to Arizona with my brother in a few weeks to hang with my parents and visit Las Cruces for a 4X4 Jeep event that my Dad is into. It should be fun to be with my family and see some serious off-road action. I'll try and get some pictures to post on curtiscregan.com

I had a great opportunity the other day visiting the set of a new broadway show. My girlfriend is playing Jane in Disney's Tarzan that's coming to Broadway in May. Phil Collins is doing the music, and with Disney producing you can imagine that this show is going to be BIG! The cast is amazing and to see such a cool story come to the stage just sends chills down my back. So, for all you folks in the New York area, go check out Tarzan because it looks sweet!

I miss you all and can't wait to get back on the road to see you guys on a regular basis. Know that you're never far from my heart. See you soon!

Curtis :)
