Hey all!!
I'm just headed out the door for a road trip back up to SF. There's a storage space there
filled with even more shoes and clothes! I need to get them quick:) Seriously though, I'm
going up to grab the rest of my stuff and also to visit some really good friends who live up
there and who are in town with "Wicked."
What have I been up to this summer you ask?
Well, besides moving in slowly but surely, I've been spending a lot of time with family.
This move to Los Angeles has been great for that. My little cousin(who's like a sister to
me) was in town visiting for about a week. It was her first time away from her folks. We
had a blast!! We went shopping(are you surprised?), we made a trip to Universal
Studios(she really wanted to sit in the Wet Zone at Waterworld...crazy!), we had a little get
together at my new apartment for old "Miss Saigon" friends(luau again:)) and so her being
here was really cool. I was also able to go home to Hawaii for a week to see my parents.
Orbitz had a really good sale going on out of LA so that was really special. Drove to Vegas
again to catch Grandma in yet another slot machine tournament....it's only a 4 hour drive!
I'm sure I'll be seeing Grandma a lot this year:) And of course, Hi-5 has been taking me
away for performances here and there. Speaking of....
Memphis was great(sorry we missed you Trish!) St. Judes and the Target house were
amazing!! It was really great to perform with the gang again and the kids, families and
staff there were great. It meant a lot to us to be able to do a show there. Shaun pretty
much exlained it all in his entry. It was truly incredible and we hope to go back and do it
again soon! If any of our new friends from the Target house are reading this..WE LOVE
YOU GUYS! Thanks for an amazing weekend!
Okay, well that's about it for now. I know, I know..I have to check my email. Thank you all
so much for writing to me. I'll be sure to set aside some major time to write back to all of
you:)
Love you guys...hope all is rockin'!!!
Love love,
Kimee

Hi everyone,
I'm back! I am finally back in NY after my amazing trip to Hong
Kong, China. I don't think I even told you guys I was going there,
but I wasn't sure my timing would work out until the last week before
the trip. Luckily, everything with the Hi-5 schedule timed out just
right and i was able to visit my mom, who is currently working on a
new version of Lion King for the new Disney park there. Actually, I
got to see a run through and it looks great. They actually built the
new theater just for that show!
If you've never been to Asia, Hong Kong is a wonderful place to
visit first. It's one of the coolest cosmopolitan cities i've ever
visited and almost just as easy to get around as any big city in the
States. I say almost because there is the whole chinese language
factor to consider. However, most people speak English there, and
there is a huge international community of people living there, and
there is English on all of the signs around the area. The public
transportation system is also one of the best in the world.
During my time there I went on amazing hikes, explored the city, and
had a blast checking out their cool restaurants. It was really hot!
So i definitely spent a lot of time at the pool where we were living :).
After Hong Kong, Hi-5 had the unique oportunity of performing for a
bunch of amazing kids at Target House, which is an unbelievable living
facility built from a $28 million dollar donation from Target for
children with extreme and unique forms of cancer. They along with
their parents live in this complex together for little to no money,
and are able to have the most amount of comfort that they can while
living through a horrible circumstance. Target House is connected
with St. Jude Childrens Hospital, which treats these kids for free
through private donations. The hospital actually costs $1 million a
day to run, and we could see why when we visited. They are actually
able to create the medicines necessary based on individual need for
each child right at the hospital...wow.
The performance was so moving for us because we were able to get to
know these awesome kids a litte more first through song and dance, and
then through a little meet and great gathering. In each little person
I met, I was amazed at their ability to have fun and forget about
their day to day struggle with this horrible disease. They, more than
their parents, are the ones who are able to forget about life's
problems and focus on the positive. My heart goes out to them, and
all of my prayers and wishes. They truly affected our lives.
Well, let me hear what you guys are up to...i hope we get to see
some of you around the country or Canada over the next few months.
And I can't wait until you enjoy our new episodes starting Sept. 26th!
Finally!!! Miss y'all.
love, Shaun

Hi Hi-5ers!

Subject: Hi Hi-5ers!
So, I'm sending out some mid-summer emails and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to
say hello to all of you!
Happy August! This happens to be MY favorite time of the year...I wonder why;)?
For those of you who have been asking, Scooby and Scrappy (my adorable kitties) are
doing just fine. They're shedding like crazy because it's the summer, but other than that,
they're great! Scooby is actually in the process of making it near impossible for me to type
because she is rolling all over the keyboard ( I can't get too upset, though. I mean, what
else are cats supposed to do? )
I'm about to leave this Sunday to go on a really long trip. I'm going to Seattle to visit my
sister, then I'm going to LA and Memphis to hang out with the Hi-5 gang for a few days.
After that I'm travelling to Hawaii. I've never been there, but since meeting Kimee (who
grew up there), I figure that since SHE'S so cool it must be a really great place. And then
after that I'm going to meet the Hi-5 gang again up in Vancouver, BC. So, I have a very
busy, very fun August ahead of me.
I'd love to hear what you all are doing with your summers. I hope it's filled with tons of
pool parties, playing outside, camping, and just general fun of all sorts.
Be well!
Sending lots of love,
Karla
